Abstract

English summary

This article traces the 50-year genealogy of "polycrisis" (1976-2026). Since 2022, the term has become a global analytical category (ECB, IMF, UN, COP, think tanks), yet its theoretical source has been almost entirely erased. Edgar Morin laid the conceptual foundations in 1976 with "Pour une crisologie"; the term and concept emerged in 1993 in Terre-Patrie (with Anne Brigitte Kern), reformulated in 2011 and extended in 2014.

The study cross-references three independent corpora (four foundational Morinian texts; 257 academic texts 1993-2024 manually coded on 51 variables; multilingual bibliometrics across 15 language variants) with mandatory triangulation across three different source types. Four philological findings: (1) massive erosion of explicit Morin citation (100% in 1993-2006 to 6% in 2022-2024); (2) three multilingual antecedents, Spanish 1993 (Buenos Aires), Chinese 1997 (Ma Shengli), repositioning the received chronology; (3) the alleged Bakhtin-Morin filiation philologically refuted across 19 cardinal works; (4) three translational shifts documented in Homeland-Earth (Hampton Press 1999).

Four analytical tools are proposed: second-order crisis; R1-R4 typological grid; qualitative substitution; cartography of six contemporary prisms of polycrisis.
